JXD 510G 5.8G FPV Quadcopter Review.

About the product

New from the famous Chinese manufacturer of radio controlled toys JIN XING DA - quadcopter JXD 510G. Prior to this model, there were already similar versions, these are the Pioneer JXD 509W drones (FPV flight is implemented via Wi-Fi) and JXD 509G (FPV at an analog 5.8 GHz frequency without delay). In fact, the JXD 510G quadcopter is a modified 509G. The developers took into account the disadvantages of the previous model, fixed them, updated the design and added a little more functionality to the quad.

Appearance

Motors

The JXD 510G is equipped with collector motors that transmit torque through a pinion. For a budget quad, they do an excellent job.

Flight properties

In flight, the JXD 510G showed the usual dynamics for this UAV niche, which is quite enough for a novice pilot. All functions and modes worked without comment. The altitude hold function is implemented without the involvement of sensors. Everything is trite and simple, thanks to the presence of the left stick in the center position. It holds the altitude, but if there is a wind, then the participation of the pilot is necessary, since the quadric will drift in its direction.

Camera

Unlike other predecessors of this series, the developers of JIN XING DA have modified the HD camera on the JXD 510G. The picture is now clear and corresponds to the declared 720p. But, it was not without its drawbacks and the blame for all the "jelly", which is present both at the time of the flight and at the time of watching the video. The problem is that the camera is attached directly to the body of the quad and does not have the simplest dampers.

This defect is solved by installing the camera on any vibration-damping material, such as foam or rubber. As a result, this disadvantage can be eliminated by almost 90%, it becomes much more pleasant to fly, as well as to watch a recorded flight.

Battery

canned lithium polymer battery at 3.7V 600mAh 30C. Provides an average flight with the camera turned on for up to 7 minutes, which is generally the norm. The battery charging time takes about 2 hours. Therefore, we recommend purchasing spare batteries in advance. Ideally, if they are at 1200mAh.

USB charging battery. The end of the charge cycle will be indicated by a red light on the charge itself.

Control

predecessors of the JXD 509W (509G). Operates at 2.4GHz. Provides removal distance up to 50 meters. Yes, not a lot, but if you consider that the quad is for the beginner segment of consumers, then it is quite normal. Power is supplied from 4 x 1.5v AA batteries (purchased separately).

First-person flight for this model is implemented using an FPV monitor. The picture is broadcast from the drone's camera in the analog 5.8GHz frequency range without delay (unlike FPV over Wi-Fi). The analog approach gives the pilot the ability to fly fully in FPV goggles. And this is a completely different feeling. The monitor has received built-in power. The battery is charged from USB (cable included) for about 2 hours. As in the case of the drone's battery, the end of charging will be indicated by a red indicator on the charger. The battery life of the monitor on a single charge is about 1 hour.

Price

On various Internet trading platforms, the average price for a JXD 510G quadcopter fluctuates around $ 90.

Pros

  • Design
  • Functionality
  • 5.8G FPV
  • Altitude hold
  • Hedless mode
  • Return to transmitter
  • 720p camera
  • Ready to fly out of the box
  • No registration required
  • Price

Cons

  • Collector motors
  • The chamber has no vibration damping elements
  • Flight time
  • During operation, one of the landing supports fell off due to self-destruction of the threaded connection (it is treated with a thread fixer)

At the moment, the JXD 510G is one of the best deals for a price tag of less than $ 100. The pilot receives a quad with the functions of holding the altitude and returning to the transmitter from the button, an HD camera with quite acceptable shooting quality and, most importantly, FPV flight at an analog frequency without delays. Fully justifies the money spent. Suitable exclusively for beginners who want to combine in their first experience and training in flight as a whole and adaptation to flying in FPV goggles, which they will sooner or later come to. Age restriction 14.
