MJX X900 hexacopter review.

Introduction

It is rightfully called one of the best small hexacopters in the world in terms of price-quality ratio. The MJX X900 is the youngest brother in the "X" series from the manufacturer MJX R / C Technic.

Features

  • Interference-resistant 2.4GHz transmitter with built-in gyro sensor
  • 6-axis gyroscope providing indicative wind resistance and confident flight
  • Three flight modes
  • The ability to change the assignment of sticks on the control equipment
  • The ability to control the drone by tilting the equipment
  • 3D-flips
  • LED backlight
  • Ready to fly out of the box

* The developer offers the X900 in two colors.

Package contents

  • Hexacopter MJX X900

To give an idea of the true dimensions of the drone, compare the smallest quadcopter V676 and X900, as well as compare the drones X900 and X800

Disassembly

Inside the popular high-speed single-chip transceiver, wireless chip is XN297 2.4G RF.

Battery

The X900 Hexacopter is equipped with a built-in 180 mAh single-cell battery. In practice, it provides a flight time of no more than 3-4 minutes (with the declared 5 minutes), which is generally normal for this UAV niche. Charges from the included USB charger. Charging time from a PC (laptop) lasts 30-40 minutes. The end of charging will be indicated by a red LED on the USB connector of the charger.

The built-in battery of the hexa can be charged either from the USB port of the PC (Laptop) or from the power supply of the X900 control equipment. To do this, insert the USB charging plug into the USB port on the equipment, and insert the other end into the connector on the back of the hexacopter above the power button. Charging time in this way lasts an average of 50 minutes.

Motors

The MJX X900 Hexacopter is equipped with 6 × 12mm collector motors, classic for budget drones. At maximum flow rates, there is more than enough thrust, the hex easily performs programmed flips and actively responds to the movement of the gas stick.

  • To replace the motors, you will need a soldering iron, we will attribute this fact to the minuses.
  • Medium and maximum modes are not much different from each other and are more suitable for flying on the street!

Control panel

Hexacopter MJX x900 is equipped with quite convenient control equipment with built-in G- sensor operating at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Provides a distance of up to 100 meters in an interference-free area. For a metropolis, this distance is reduced to 50 meters. Power is supplied from 6 × AA (purchased separately).

The hardware supports two control modes. Classically with sticks and thanks to the built-in gyrosensor, tilts of the remote control.

Assignment of buttons and switches

First start

The Beginner Mode assumes flying the drone at the lowest cost, suitable for home launch. The other two modes give the pilot more opportunities in piloting, but only on the street, since the dynamics of the drone's movement will increase significantly. The hull itself is strong enough, but disappointingly with the rotor mountings, they jump off very easily, especially with careless piloting or an accident. The tilt control of the hardware works well, albeit with a slight delay.

Price

Hexacopter MJX x900 is sold through all well-known Internet trading platforms at a price of $ 40.

Pros[19 9]
  • Design, build quality
  • Balanced
  • Good flight performance
  • Up to 5 min flight time
  • Good radio range
  • Tilt control of the remote control (built-in G-sensor)
  • The remote control can charge the drone
  • The remote control is suitable for other models of the "X" series (600/800)
  • Good diode illumination

Cons

  • No rotor protection
  • No Headless mode
  • The main rotors jump off very easily
  • The flight modes "Medium" and "High" do not differ much from each other
  • The presence of unused buttons on the equipment

Nice design and good build quality. Balanced. Adapted for beginner pilots. Due to its 22 grams of weight, the drone lacks vertical thrust a bit. But, if you solder a battery with a higher capacity and discharge rate, then the drawback with thrust will be eliminated, although in this case the flight time may decrease.
