Camera

AOSENMA CG035 quadcopter is equipped with FPV HD camera (FOV about 100º, you can change the lens to a wider one) ... 720p recording quality. Video signal transmission in NTSC format in the Boscam E band. The 5.8G linear antenna is mounted on latches on the bottom of the camera, next to a 3-position DIP switch that selects the frequency. It is suspended by a 2-axis servo gimbal, which is attached to the drone body with four screws.

Before attaching the gimbal to the camera, you must first connect the three plugs responsible for gimbal operation. All three are numbered, it is impossible to make a mistake when connecting.

The gimbal does not have vibration damping elements and therefore you should not wait for a stable picture. Shooting quality is below average. In general, the operation of the servo gimbal is unsatisfactory and requires constant alignment of the camera from the equipment. Also, practice has shown that the servos themselves quickly fail. But, amateurs have already found a source for acquiring new ones.

To increase the flight time in shooting mode, the manufacturer has equipped the camera with its own LiPo, which must be periodically recharged. For this, a mini JST connector is displayed on the camera itself (the charger is included in the kit).

It is recommended to regularly check the charge level of the built-in battery of the on-board camera. Otherwise, having flown a distance, the pilot risks being left without FPV pictures. But, in any case, the pilot has an RTH (Return to Home) function.

Battery

AOSENMA CG035 quadcopter is powered by 2S 7.4V 2200mAh LiPo enclosed in a box. The battery contact group is presented in the form of a T-connector. A balancing cable is hidden in the box. This fact immediately makes it clear that you can upgrade the power supply to a more powerful one. The stock battery provides a maximum flight time of 15 minutes.

In practice, the first removal of the battery is very problematic, it slides out tightly and is also tightly inserted. But over time, this fact disappears on its own and the process of replacing the battery becomes problem-free.

As a result of the operation of the AOSENMA CG035 quadrocopter, the following was revealed. Despite the fact that the drone is turned off, it still continues to discharge the battery installed in it. As a result, the battery is discharged to zero, this fact has a detrimental effect on the battery and negates further operation (the battery stops holding a charge and is quickly discharged). When the quad is not in use, you should extract the LiPo from the drone!

Controls

The equipment of the drone is also made in the style of DJI Phantom, the quality of the plastic is good. As mentioned above, this equipment has two antennas operating at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The Follow me function is implemented on the GPS module built into the control equipment. In fact, the drone flies not for a person, but for a remote control.

The hardware is generally comfortable, with all buttons at an intuitive distance. But, it was not without its drawbacks. The FPV monitor holder is attached with a hinge, which does not provide a clear fixation. As a result, the monitor constantly spontaneously lowers itself onto the flight mode switches. The equipment is powered by 4 × 1.5V AA batteries (purchased separately).

Monitor with built-in 32-channel FPV module. Diagonal 4.3 inches (10.922cm). Built-in power supply. Charging is carried out from the included charger. FPV display on the monitor is good, but still lacks brightness. There are no settings.

Test Drive

In Normal mode, noticeable drone activity occurs when the throttle stick is set to 50% or more. In the test showed a distinctive dynamics compared to Hubsan H501S

Performed the Follow Me function flawlessly. The drone occupies a good position in relation to the control equipment, which allows you to shoot good video footage. Even manual change of the distance from the equipment is allowed. The function "Flying in a circle" realizes the flight around the control panel, the pilot can adjust the flight radius and speed of the drone.

Perfectly worked the return home function, landing almost instead of taking off. The error in landing accuracy averaged no more than 1.5 meters. In FPV mode, low-end drones have a noticeable drop in frame rate when video recording is turned on. The CG035 does not have such a fact, which confirms the presence of a powerful VTX on board.

The drone quietly retreats 150 meters away without interference. As mentioned above, the quality of the footage is below average. Not bad FOV angle (100º), it is quite enough for normal FPV flight.

On the downside, the drone is very slow to descend (land) in RTH (return to home) mode. On average, boarding time takes about 2 minutes. The next significant drawback is the extremely poor performance of the 2-axis servo suspension, auto-leveling works poorly, you constantly have to adjust the camera horizontally from the equipment. Servos work incorrectly with jerks, which in turn affects the stability of the recorded picture. Jelly is present. The disadvantages include the fact that the bind button (drone remote) is located inside the drone body.

At the time of flight, it is extremely necessary to monitor the state of the camera battery (in the upper right corner of the monitor), because the built-in battery does not have good autonomy and can fail. The flight time in practice was no more than 10 minutes in shooting mode!

Apart from the negative work of the 2-axis gimbal and the camera, in general the AOSENMA CG035 quadrocopter is a very interesting model. Dynamic, stable, wind-resistant, the electronics work well, all the declared functions work flawlessly. It can rightfully be considered a competitor to the H502S and, in general, has an advantage over Hubsan. When retrofitted with two or three axial mechanical gimbals in conjunction with any of the well-known action cameras, it can easily cope with amateur aerial photography. It is suitable for pilots with experience in UAV piloting, but it will not be difficult for a beginner to master the operation of a quadrocopter. Age limit 14.
