Introduction
XDynamics - founded in 2015, the company is engaged in the design, development, production and subsequent sale of high-quality UAVs, both for amateurs and professionals. The development team includes leading industry experts from Germany, UK, Australia, Hong Kong and China. He has gained many years of experience in robotics, aerodynamics, flight control algorithms, computer visualization, as well as in photography and video filming.
Hong Kong startup XDynamics debuted at CES2017. The company presented its new drone - Evolve. The world's first drone designed as a single carbon fiber monocoque. The drone is capable of streaming Full HD video in real time with zero latency. Evolve received an intelligent piloting system and a first-of-its-kind controller that has two screens at once with completely different purposes.

Camera
By default, Evolve is equipped with a 12MP 4K camera built on a 1 / 2.3-inch Sony CMOS sensor, with a 21mm F / 2.8 lens and an angle of view - 94 °. The camera is suspended on a 3-axis anti-vibration mechanical suspension. Records perfectly smooth images in the following modes: 4K at 30 frames per second; 1080p @ 60/120 fps and 720p @ 60/240 fps, adapting to a variety of scenarios and themes ranging from tranquil landscapes to action-packed sports selfies. Supports RAW / DNG formats, records video at a maximum bitrate of 60Mbps. The gimbal of the drone, in addition to the stock 4K camera, is adapted for the installation of a digital SLR and panoramic camera, which can be changed in less than 3 seconds, thanks to a patented adapter.
Power supply
Evolve is equipped with an intelligent 4-cell (14.8V 4S) lithium-polymer battery, developed by XDynamics, with a capacity of 6700mAh 99.16Wh. Provides a maximum flight time of 20 minutes. Charges from the included charger.
Control
Evolve has proposed a new approach to drone control. The new patented controller received its own software and two separate displays. Both screens have improved brightness (twice as bright as any smartphone) and perfectly display information in direct sunlight.
A 7-inch multi-touch screen built into the folding panel of the remote control serves as a display of the image received from the camera, as well as for working with the received photo / video material. The second 5-inch screen located between the sticks will act as a control panel for the drone. Thus, the manufacturer has almost completely abandoned the usual buttons, adhering to the current trends of smartphones, digital cameras and handheld game consoles.
Flight modes
There are 3 flight modes available to the user:
- GPS mode - provides accurate position holding when no commands are received from the pilot's control equipment. A stable satellite connection is required to use. Recommended for beginners.
- Custom mode - provides access to two special sub-modes: "Simple Mode" and "Waypoints Mode"
- Altitude mode - holds the current altitude. It becomes relevant when there is no satellite coverage. Does not hold position and may drift in the direction of the wind. Suitable for advanced users only.
Smart Modes
Three preset automatic flight and capture modes are available to expand your creativity:
Point of Interest
In Point of Interest mode, the aircraft will automatically fly around the selected object at a specified height and distance.
WayPoint Operation
In WayPoint Operation mode, the user only needs to indicate the flight route (waypoints) on the remote control display, set the altitude and direction, after which the drone will automatically fly along the route, and the pilot can concentrate on shooting.
Course Lock
An advanced analogue of the “ Headless ” mode that disables the aircraft's front / rear orientation, which allows the user is not worried about which side of the drone is looking at the pilot. In this mode, it does not matter which side the drone is facing in relation to the pilot, moving the control stick forward will always correspond to the flight of the drone from the pilot, and moving the stick towards you will correspond to the flight toward the pilot.
Advanced Piloting System
The manufacturer has embodied everything in one package, hardware and software. The Evolve drone's console as a whole is an advanced piloting system (smart pilot system - SPS) that combines all the necessary functions for simultaneous piloting and shooting by one pilot, for both amateur and professional, within a single interface:
- Album manager: allows you to view, organize, sort, rename, sign media files at will, improve the quality of images using special filters.
- Warning Center: during the flight helps the pilot to solve emerging problems in the form of ready-made solutions.
- Flight Modes: You can take selfies when the drone is following you or give the drone an accent to capture specific locations that participate in the flight plan previously created by the pilot.
- Flight Planner: allows the pilot to set multiple points for the planned autonomous flight, altitude, and heading. Then the drone will do everything by itself.
To realize maximum functionality in one control panel, the developer equipped the hardware with a 64-bit 4-core processor, a graphics accelerator, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, where all this hardware is controlled by the Android operating system, which in terms of quality of work freely competes with high-tech modern tablets.
