Specification
About
Compared to predecessor (X5SW), the Syma X5HW quadrocopter has added a little in size. The plastic is impact-resistant, glossy, the workmanship is good. As mentioned above, the manufacturer offered the drone
The main distinguishing feature of this drone is the presence of a barometer, thanks to which the altitude hold function is implemented. The rest of the drone has not undergone any significant changes from the technical side.

Quadcopter
Upon further review, it was revealed that the developer completely eliminated any possibility of upgrading the rotors by changing the shape of the seats (now in the form of a "Diamond"). Let's attribute this fact to the disadvantages.
Camera
The Syma X5HW is equipped with a 0.3MP Wi-Fi camera. Shooting quality is below average. The Wi-Fi transmitter classically operates at 2.4GHz, which in turn adversely affects the control of the drone, since the equipment operates at the same frequency. The stock camera is solely for informational purposes with FPV flight
Battery
Syma X5HW is equipped with a standard 5-series battery 1S 3.7V 600mAh LiPo, but unfortunately with a non-standard connector... According to the manufacturer's specifications, it provides a flight time of 5-7 minutes. In practice, I showed a ceiling of 8 minutes, taking into account the simultaneous shooting. Charging time is 1.5 hours.
The battery connector also underwent factory modernization. The new connector, which has never been encountered before, also eliminates the need to retrofit the quadcopter with a more powerful battery. Let's attribute this fact to the disadvantages.
Control
Complete with Syma X5HW classic 4-channel equipment operating at 2.4GHz... According to the specification, it provides a removal distance of 30-50 meters. In practice, with the camera turned on, this distance was no further than 30 meters. With the camera off, up to 100 meters. Power is supplied from four 1.5V AA batteries (purchased separately).
Assignment of buttons
Test drive
There is nothing special in the Syma X5HW test not surprising compared to other 5-series models. On the contrary, the quad has noticeably lost its dynamics and most likely this is due to the barometer on board. Apparently the controller of the drone works in close relationship with the pressure sensor, which in turn significantly limits the flight potential of the quadcopter. For example, if at the time of flight the pilot moves the left stick closer to zero, then the drone will not descend dynamically, but will carry out a smooth descent and such “lethargy” appears in all modes. Shows maximum dynamics at double rates with the camera removed.
The altitude hold function itself works correctly, no comments were found, beginners will appreciate it. Flips do with a drawdown, but the motors do it. Flight in Headless mode is also without remarks. He does not like the wind, it is worth considering this fact, otherwise it will irrevocably fly away in its direction!
FPV flight should not be carried away due to the large delay in the transmission of the video signal and the periodic loss of control communication caused by the simultaneous operation of the wi-fi camera and the drone equipment at the same 2.4GHz frequency. The drone is only good for information and nothing more. In practice, he showed the maximum flight time - 8 minutes (with the declared 5-7 minutes), which is not even bad given the simultaneous operation of the Wi-Fi camera.
Price
The Syma X5HW quadcopter is sold at an average price of $ 60.
Output
Pros
- Quality
- Strength
- Altitude hold
- 6-axis gyroscope
- Hedless mode
- Flips
- LED backlight
- Ready to fly out of the box
- No registration required
- Price
Cons
- Barometer limits drone potential
- Camera (shooting quality)
- Camera angle cannot be adjusted
- FPV over Wi-Fi (long latency)
- Collector motors (short life)
- Carrying screws only fit this model
- Non-standard battery connector
The Syma X5HW quadcopter is exclusively for beginners, this segment of the consumer will appreciate its best features. The present barometer will greatly facilitate the first flights, but still you should not get used to this function and in the future master control without the participation of electronic assistants. Due to the cheapness of the electronic component, the first-person flight is for informational purposes, any movement in FPV mode should be carried out within line of sight. As a simulator for the first acquaintance with a UAV, it fully justifies the money spent. Age limit 12.
