Motors

Walkera WK-WS-28-014 brushless motors in the Runner 250 arsenal 2500KV working in tandem with 20A Runner 250 ESC. In practice, they have proven themselves exclusively from the best side. Provide indicative flight dynamics in the niche occupied by racing UAVs.

The quality of the stock two-blade 140mm rotors

Camera

Onboard the R250 FPV FPV camera with variable tilt angle. Works in tandem with a 25mW (for CE) or 200mW (for FCC) analog VTX. In practice, with 200mW VTX provide optimal flight quality from the first person at a distance of up to 350 meters (with the declared maximum distance of 1 km), then a gradual deterioration in the broadcast quality, which is generally the norm for this niche of racing UAVs.

Power supply

The quadcopter is equipped with a 3S 11.1V 2200mAh 25C lithium polymer battery with an XT60 connector. According to the specification, it provides a maximum flight time of 14 minutes. In practice, with a mixed mode of piloting, this time is 6 minutes. In the "throttle to the floor" mode, no more than 4 minutes of flight. Charging time from the included charger is no more than 120 minutes.

Due to the fact that some users state the fact of recharging the battery with a complete charger. For safety reasons, it is recommended to abandon the use of the stock charger and charge the battery using proven devices, such as "iMax B6-AC", etc. Let us remind you that even an insignificant recharge of LiPo batteries subsequently leads to at least malfunction and at most to ignition!

Control

The R250 is controlled by 7-channel amateur control equipment - Walkera Devo 7. Operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. By default, power is supplied from 8 × AA, which in practice does not last long. Provides a distance of up to 700 meters in an interference-free area. Supports work in the "Trainer-Apprentice" mode using the supplied cable.

In the future, it is recommended to abandon the use of finger batteries and install a LiPo battery (for example 3S 2200mAh) via JST connector

Flight modes

2-flight modes available to the user:

  1. Normal - the angles are minimal, the electronics 100% controls the horizontal position of the drone.
  2. Roll Flight - electronics disabled, angles are maximum. Allows you to perform coups.

Test Drive

Walkera Runner 250 has established itself as a professional model. The well-tuned flight controller should be separately noted, the drone is demonstratively stable, controllable and dynamic for the niche of racing UAVs. The quality of the first-person flight deserves respect, there are practically no broadcast failures even in bad weather. An equally important role is played by quite bright LED illumination both in front and behind, which allows you to easily determine the direction of the drone during visual piloting. The Failsafe mode is not configured by default, if the connection is lost, the drone motors continue to work. To change the default “Failsafe” settings in the DEVO 7 menu: Settings / Functions / Safe / Throttle / Change “HOLD” to “SAFE”.

Price

Depending on the configuration, the Runner 250 quadcopter is sold by the developer at the following prices:

  2. Basic 2 Package FPV camera / VTX) - $ 259
