Eachine QX65: An upgraded TinyWhoop.

Introduction

Eachine QX65 - model of 2018, is a striking continuation of the equally popular "TinyWhoop" - Eachine E010SEachine E013. Unlike the E010S, the QX65 received a full-fledged elastic ABS frame, modified collector motors (6 × 15mm; up to 68,000 rpm) and a new flight controller with built-in OSD - Beecore V2 (F3 MCU). Due to its wide potential, the advantages of the drone can be appreciated by both beginners with a perspective for drone racing and advanced pilots when the weather is not flying outside. Further in details about a bright new product.

Motors

Eachine QX65 has high performance 0615 brushed motors (6 × 15mm), the potential of which allows you to output up to 68,000 rpm, which is very useful when the Acro mode is active. In practice, they have proven themselves exclusively from the best side, there is enough traction for quadrics in this niche in abundance. The pluses also include the replacement of motors without the use of a soldering iron, thanks to the PH 2.0 connectors

Flight modes

There are three flight modes available:

  1. Acro - electronic stabilization is disabled, tilt angles are maximum... Unleashes the full flight potential of the drone. The mode is suitable for advanced users.
  2. Angel - a mode for beginners. The 6-axis gyroscope controls the horizontal position of the drone 100%, the dynamics and tilt angles are minimal.
  3. Air - (a kind of Acro) modified Acro mode, eliminates the possibility of turning off the motors when the throttle stick is set to "0", thereby allowing the pilot to control the UAV in free fall. Relevant for drone freestyle.

FPV

The QX65's first-person flight is realized with an AIO FPV camera with a 1/4 ″ CMOS sensor with resolution of 700TVL (FOV 130 °) and a 48-channel 25mW video transmitter operating at 5.8GHz. The quality of the tandem's work as a whole deserves respect. Note the possibility to change the angle of the camera by means of three screws securing the protective dome of the quadric (up to 25 °).

Setting

Changing channels and frequencies is done with just one buttonthe table of frequencies and channels

Power supply

Eachine QX65 is equipped with a single cell (1S) high voltage (HV 4.35V) lithium polymer battery with 250mAh capacity and discharge rate 35C. According to the specification, it provides a flight time of up to 5 minutes. In practice, this time was 3-4 minutes, depending on the piloting style and the selected flight modes, which is generally the norm for this UAV niche.

Software support

Thanks to the Beecore V2 flight controller (similar to the F3 MCU), advanced users have the opportunity to adjust the flight characteristics of the QX65 in accordance with with their preference via the Betaflight configurator, similar to how drone racing professionals do it by connecting the quadTinyWhoop, flight controllers of which are deprived of such an opportunity, which in turn limits the full freedom of development of a novice user in an unmanned hobby.

Not very l the best choice for those newbies who want to "buy and fly", because the drone reaches the consumer in the BNF

In our case, these were two control equipment compatible with the Frsky receiver - Taranis X9D and Taranis Q X7 and FPV goggles - Fatshark Dominator V3

Otherwise, this is one of the best deals in the niche. Its strengths are: a well-tuned (default) flight controller (F3 with built-in OSD), modified brushed motors providing indicative dynamics and controllability, good performance FPV tandem, HV power supply and flight time up to 4 minutes.

Eachine QX65 will be fully appreciated by novice pilots with a drone / drone freestyle perspective, who want to quickly and safely master piloting skills (including Acro modes), get acquainted with setting up a flight controller using the Betaflight configurator, video transmitter, and in general, get a basic understanding of unmanned systems. The novelty will also receive respect among advanced users in cases where the weather is not flying outside.
