Tello EDU: Let creativity fly.

Introduction

Tello EDU is the second version of the programmable drone following the popular Tello. Appearance

Programming

Tello EDU can be programmed using Scratch, Swift and Python. It is built on the new SDK 2.0 with more commands and an extended data interface. With the help of programming, you can instruct the drone to execute sequential actions according to a preset algorithm, as well as implement the ability to recognize objects and much more.

The Swift programming language has an interesting curriculum called "Tello Space Travel" where aspiring programmers can learn coding through interactive lessons in an interesting storyline using the iPad.

Another new coding language available for Tello EDU is Python. Coding in Python allows you to significantly expand the functionality of the quadcopter. For example, a user can program several EDU drones to implement synchronized flight (Drone Swarm). Intel has long been using a similar idea to present light air shows.

Drone Swarm

Using the program code and “Mission Pad” control marks, the user can realize synchronous flight (up to four Tello EDUs at a time), coupled with various acrobatic aerobatic maneuvers.

Mission Pads

Mission Pads - control marks, serve for more accurate execution of programmed tasks and expanding programming capabilities. The user can program specific information for each tag separately, thereby allowing the drone to recognize each of them and carry out missions assigned to each tag, for example, performing various aerobatics.

AI Capabilities

Tello EDU gives the user full access to the video stream data, thereby creating more possibilities for image processing and AI development... The new SDK 2.0 further enhances the drone by implementing more AI functions such as object recognition, tracking, 3D reconstruction through programming, computer vision and deep learning technologies.

Tello EDU is sold through official sources of developers in a single set for $ 129.

Q. What are the main differences between Tello EDU and Tello? A. Tello EDU has all the same features and capabilities as Tello, plus the revised SDK 2.0

Q. How can I manage Tello EDU? A. You can control Tello EDU using your smartphone / tablet (IOS or Android), as well as in combination with GameSir T1d Controller control equipment (purchased separately).

Q. What interesting things can the drone do during the flight? O. Tello EDU can perform eight different flips, take off and land in "Bounce" mode, and automatically record short videos using EZ Shots.

Q. Can Tello EDU fly indoors? A. Yes, Tello EDU can fly safely both indoors and outdoors. It is recommended to launch outdoors in calm weather.

Q. Is Tello EDU waterproof? A. No.

Camera

Q. What features does the drone camera have? A. Tello EDU is capable of taking 5MP photos and recording videos in HD quality. The EZ Shots feature allows the drone to fly according to pre-set patterns and record short videos.

Q. Where is the received photo and video material saved? And how can I export it? A. Photos and videos are saved on the smartphone / tablet paired with the drone. You can export files from your smartphone as needed.

Q. Does the drone support SD cards? A. No.

Q. What is the max. video stream transmission distance? O. Max. The flight range is approximately 100m, but this distance may vary depending on the interference present at the drone launch site.

Battery

Q. How can I charge the drone battery? A. You can charge the battery without removing it from the drone using the supplied micro USB cable, or simultaneously charge up to three batteries using a charger (purchased separately).

Q. Does the drone support hot swapping of the battery? A. No. If this is done, then there is a possibility of losing the photo and video material recorded during the last flight.

Propellers

Q. How do you replace the drone's main rotor? A. Propellers are changed manually, without any tools. But, just in case, the kit comes with a special key for removing them.

Q. How can I tell the difference between CW and CCW rotors? And how to install them correctly? A. CW propellers and motors have special notches that must match. There are no such marks on CCW propellers and motors.
